PVC pipe has entirely revolutionized the concept of plumbing. PVC pipes can be used for drainage, waste water, etc but is not used for water supply.
PVC pipes are versatile
PVC which stands for Polyvinyl Chloride is a compound chemically designed for power and toughness. It is very tolerant to acidic materials found in cleaners, other chemical substances used at homes and even to hard and soft water. It prevents leakage and is a bad conductor of electricity. It has other benefits like it is easily installable; they are cheap, easy to handle etc.
PVC coupling has many uses
PVC coupling is a type of fixture that allows two pipes to be soldered together. It is a very short pipe that has a socket at one or each ends. You can solder and weld two pipes with this socket. These PVC couplings are very short in length and are coupled with two female pipe threads. Such fittings are fixed with the coupler. It is mandatory that both the ends should be same. PVC coupling has one threaded socket and one plain socket. National pipe threaded socket may vary in its sizes. If both the ends of a coupler are of different in size then it is known as reducing coupling.
How do PVC valves work?
PVC valves are devices that control the flow of a fluid or in this case water by opening, or closing, or partly hindering various passage ways. If it is closed the flow stops and if it is opened the flow continues. PVC valves are pipe fittings, but are different from the rest. When a valve is open, fluid flows in the direction of high pressure to low pressure. Such PVC valves have firm inner support that will protect the system from failure or breaking down due to stress. The PVC valves should be replaced if they get clogged.
